Genny Pounders

Fourscore, I mean, 8 years ago, a group of UB students, washed up former athletes, and Labatt/Genesee lovers joined together to create a kickball team that would change lives. Dutifully named The Genny Pounders, our kickball team has gone on to pound more Genesee and Blue Light beers than all of the other local kickball teams combined! (Source: TBD)

Although the Genny Pounders have lost some good men out there along the way, we've grown into a dedicated group, rooted in our love of sports and beer.

It was actually during kickball season 2022 that I was inspired to start my @BuffaloBeerfluncer Instagram account, logging the variety of summer beers I enjoyed on and off the field, and sharing with my fellow Buffalonians why they should try the beer too and stay #underthebeerfluence.

Our team is now comprised of elementary school teachers, marketing professionals, attorneys, artists, accountants, and more. We truly enjoy each others' companies, and all year long we look forward to kickball season and spending the summer together. Our friendship was built on the kickball field, and it doesn't hibernate in the off season: the throughline that keeps us together is Labatt and Genesee beers.
